We spent the whole day at IIT Khargpur, fishing for interns from the batch of final year students of Mechanical Engineering who would like to get engaged in Design Thinking for one of our esteemed client to help them in their product development work. Though we did not expect this but 40 students applied for the job, which they thought was a new and exciting field. But trying to find out people skilled in Design Thinking was a bit difficult. One can't possibly find out this skill by interviewing or GD, a format, which the students and the institutes are used to.
Hence we gave them three hours time to work on two projects to display their thinking abilities. One was to redesign the humble bicycle and make riding it for 100 kms a pleasurable experience, without straining your muscles or your back and ride along with the minimum use of energy.
The other was to redesign the hostel beds (remember how horrible these are) in such a manner that it becomes a all weather bed (does not become too warm in summer and too cold in winter), where you can do interesting stuff, remains neat at all times, free of ants and bedbugs and also not hurt oneself even if you are punch drunk and should not smell even if one has not taken a bath for 10 days.
They were allowed to work individually as well as in groups of three. The group came up with their quite interesting thinking processes and we could not resist picking up 7 of these wonderful guys though we actually needed 4. We expect them to solve real life problems in unique ways so as to come up with applications that can be patented. contact us

Just completed a four day workshop on the application of Rapidinnovation to understand the nuances and intricacies of any interactions and processes, improve concentration and discipline on a personal level, apply the logic in our daily planning and improvement activities.
This is a whole new way of doing things in a stress free manner and without any greed, hatred, likes or dislikes and above all, without delusions. This workshop was done for the engineers and managers of Grasim Cement, Rawan a company of Aditya Birla Group. And it was received well.

We have been awarded an important engagement by an Indian MNC to creatively collate and design the necessary documentation and archival in various formats to retain and enhance organisational knowledge of the various processes.
We would be studying the various processes in the organisation and document the naunces of each process. It would help the organisation and its employees in the following ways:
1. Retain the knowledge
2. Update regularly since it would be a dynamic process
3. Employees can refer back in case of a need or clarification
4. Use as a training and teaching tool
5. Use for process audits to suggest improvements
6. Provide directions in 'what if' situations.
7. Help the organization to train new entrants
8. Help the organization to sustain quality.
9. Help the organization to thrive and survive a lifetime. contact us
01st Feb 2010
We would be conducting the next Training and Certification course on Vibration Analysis, Level 2 from 24th to 27th August 2010.
This would be as usual conducted through NTPC at their Power Management Institute, Nodia. contact us

Designing a full fledged education & training course for workers is quite a challenge. It scares the 'ghost' out of you. Do we train or educate workers or do both? But how? What to teach, how to teach and how to develop workers so that they can with the education and training improve their lot in life by becoming supervisors and officers in the company they work. The company also gains by developing home grown talents and retaining a group of loyal talents. They stick to the organization and offer their hands and minds instead of their hands only. Manufacturing companies increasingly realize that educating workers is the vital key to sustain productivity, quality and profitability. It also proves to be an extremely useful social work since it means raising the standard of living of an economically deprived section of our society. contact us

We are now training a group of young designers of an MNC to design their products for their clients across the world. The interesting thing in design is that one is forced to work under incomplete information and is forced to work under a lot of uncertainty. So how does a designer go about doing his/her job? How can they take a holistic view of the entire thing? And how do we use and apply universal design principles in our work? How do we come up with a holistic design process that looks at the whole rather than the parts? These are some of the interesting questions that we are addressing in this engagement. contact us
1st June 2009
We would be conducting the fourth program on the subject from 25th August to 28th August 2009 at NTPC Power Management Institute. This program is being organised by NTPC once or twice a year.
If you are interested you may kindly contact us.

We have been engaged by Tega Industries Limited to design the entire factory for their organic chemical product (tie up with Japanese Company -- Maple) along with the industrial architecture and its utilities and build it for them.
It is challenging design assignment to build a factory for organic chemicals. There are various things at play. To create the optimum interactions of the right amount of light, the right amount of heat, the right type of water supply and the right amount air and humidty and right temperature and also providing for ample work spaces calls for very creative but demanding design thinking.
The work is interesting because we would work right from the design concept to specifying the details of the flooring and the door knobs.
But there is an added incentive to be excited about. The use of such organic chemicals would make people more healthy and would reduce the social burden of medical expenses. One of the products is supposed to restore the chemical balance in the body, which if taken regularly would help us to stay healthy and younger.
